Our latest student spotlight!

Congratulations to Joey Odom, a talented high school trombonist, on his outstanding musical achievements and his selection in 2026 to perform in the Massachusetts All-State Music Festival, one of the highest honors a student musician can earn in the Commonwealth.

The Massachusetts All-State Music Festival brings together the state's most accomplished high school musicians for a weekend of intensive rehearsals and performances under the direction of nationally recognized conductors. Admission is highly competitive and is earned through a rigorous audition process. Only students who first qualify through their regional district festivals are eligible to audition for All-State, making selection a distinction reserved for the top student musicians in Massachusetts.

Joey’s acceptance into the festival reflects upon years of dedication, discipline, and musical excellence extending well beyond the classroom, with active participation in numerous ensembles and honor groups throughout his high school career.

Joey’s start in music was just like most of our Bridgewater-Raynham school district musicians. Joey’s parents noted that in the very beginning, he only practiced when his parents made him! But once he got the hang of it and was practicing on his own without being told to, they knew he was hooked. Joey then started listening and exploring different music genres and noted trombone players, like jazz trombonist Carl Fontana.  His mom, Melissa noted he has “put so much practice and passion into becoming the best he can!” This hard work ultimately earned him the coveted spot in the All-State Jazz band.

Joey is a valued member of the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Symphonic Band, where he demonstrates strong musicianship, leadership, and a commitment to ensemble performance. Whether performing solos on the field during competition season or performing with friends on the concert stage, he consistently contributes to the success of our programs.

Joey’s hard work and devotion to his craft have also led him to participate in Junior and Senior Southeastern Massachusetts District Music Festivals and Junior and Senior SEMSBA Festivals, and the BSU Music Honors program. These audition and honors-based programs are enriching experiences that provide high-achieving student musicians the opportunity to rehearse and perform under the guidance of university faculty and distinguished music educators while collaborating with other exceptional young musicians from across the region.

Joey’s accomplishments extend beyond the concert hall.  He is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the National Honor Society, and is a key member of the TJ2 robotics drive team with whom he has competed for the last few years at the World Championships in Houston, Texas. (Team 88, Oh Yeah!) Joey is also a self-taught guitar player and spends his (limited!) spare time working on his classic 1969 Chevy Nova.

Joey’s success is a testament to his hard work, perseverance, and passion for music, as well as the support of his family, teachers, and fellow ensemble members. Joey sets a high bar in music performance and is a great inspiration and mentor to his classmates and the district’s younger musicians.

We are incredibly proud to have Joey as part of our B-R music community, to have seen him represent our school at the Massachusetts All-State Music Festival, and we congratulate him on his
remarkable achievements this year!
